About The NCBTC
The North Carolina Ballroom Teachers College is an excellent opportunity for anyone wishing to be an instructor or for students wishing to imporve their technique as well as deepen their knowledge and understanding of Ballroom Dancing.
This is the first vocational dance training of its kind, a systematic curriculum that transforms students with little or no prior dance experience into professional dance instructors. Dollar for dollar, there is no better training. Trainees will be trained to understand the kinesthetic mechanics of each dance figure in 17 dances. They will learn to lead and follow, dancing both parts equally well, and they will be tested regularly. After the 16-month course, students will be prepared to take bronze certification examinations with the Dance Vision International Dance Association (DVIDA).
There are 4 separate sessions, each lasting 4 months that make up the complete course. They can be taken in any order so there is always a new opprtunity to join within 4 months. The Smooth Session covers Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango and Viennese Waltz. The Rhythm I session covers Rumba, Cha Cha, Bolero and East Coast Swing. The Rhythm II session covers Merengue, Mambo, Samba and West Coast Swing. The Nightclub Session covers Salsa, Hustle, Nightclub 2-Step, Lindy Hop and Argentine Tango.
Originally offered only in San Francisco, CA, this college is helping many people turn the greatest joy in their lives into a viable, lucrative profession.
